Frequently Asked Questions
What makes you qualified?
We are members of ATRA and therefore subscribe to a strict code of ethics laid out by the Automotive Transmission Rebuilders Association. We only hire transmission certified technicians with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the transmission repair industry.
How do I know if I have a transmission problem?
Among the warning signs are the following: problems while changing gears, noises from the transmission, problems when the car reaches extreme temperatures (hot or cold) leaking, burnt, or discolored transmission fluid, and problems when accelerating or stopping.
What kind of warranty coverage comes with your rebuilt transmission?
Our transmission guarantees come in three forms depending on the year, make and model of the vehicle: 12 months/12000 miles, 2 years/24000 miles or 3 years/36000 miles. Please ask us!
How much does it cost?
That depends on a few things. Prices range depending on the type of vehicle and the problem it is having. After performing an external diagnostic and understanding exactly what's wrong with your vehicle, we'll be able to tell you whether you need minor repairs, electrical work or a rebuilt transmission. We believe it is important that you know we will give you a price range and very good idea of the cost BEFORE any work is performed to ensure that you ARE NOT SURPRISED by our prices in any way. Here are some tips for taking care of your transmission to ensure a longer life span of your transmission.
Inspect the Level and Condition of Fluid
Make sure that your car is in neutral before checking the level and fluid. Pull the dipstick out and check the fluid to make sure that it is a transparent red and does not have a foul odor. If the fluid is cloudy, muddy brown, black and/or has a burnt smell, you need to have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
Inspect For Leaks
Inspect underneath your car for leaks. Because the transmission fluid is a reddish color, it should be easy to spot if there is a leak. If you notice leaks, have your vehicle inspected soon and make sure your fluid level never goes below the recommended level to prevent serious transmission damage.
Be Aware of Any Unusual Noises
If you hear any unusual noises, feel vibrations or notice unusual behavior, have your vehicle checked out right away to avoid major damage sometime down the line.
Worn Clutch Causes ShudderIf your automatic transmission has trouble shifting gears or seems to slipping; take your car to a shop to have it looked at. If you have trouble shifting your manual transmission, there is a delayed reaction, your clutch seems to be slipping, or shudders when you shift, it's time to bring your car in for a transmission service.
